June 9 - June 11
For years, the north side Chicago neighborhood of Andersonville was known as an area where girls who like girls settled down and raised their kids and altogether made the area a desirable and safe place to stay forever. Now, its gone beyond lesbian-family-friendly to full-blown LGBT-welcoming neighborhood. And boy have the gays showed up.
Every year this little hamlet hosts Midsommarfest, a summer street festival. With so many gays in the ‘hood it’s like a big pride party. Nearly 50,000 people throng Clark Street from Foster to Catalpa for two days and three nights of music, dancing, and delicious food.
