Fort Lauderdale's Sebastian Beach is "Hottest U.S. Gay Beach"

Fort Lauderdale’s Sebastian Beach has been named the “Hottest U.S. Gay Beach” by Out Traveler, Broward County’s tourism bureau announced Tuesday.

This is the second top LGBT accolade for the Greater Fort Lauderdale region this year, tourism officials said.

Sebastian Beach beat out Lighthouse Beach on New York’s Fire Island in the 2014 Out Traveler Awards.

The popular gay beach is nestled along the corner of Sebastian Street and A1A across from the Casablanca Cafe.

“Fort Lauderdale had been stealing a lot of thunder lately from Miami, its famous neighbor to the south, and committing to LGBT tourism,” the gay travel publication said. “The smaller city is a more relaxed alternative to South Beach, but there’s no shortage of action…Fire Island will always be a favorite, but Fort Lauderdale is on a roll. Oh, and marriage equality is coming to Florida in January.”
