Gay couple who won Keys marriage lawsuit are Fantasy Fest grand marshals

Jones and Huntsman were selected to preside over the parade because of their contributions to lead the Florida Keys and Florida into same-sex marriage equality. The couple won a ruling from a Monroe County judge overturning Florida’s same-sex marriage ban, but are not wed yet because Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi appealed.

Key West bartenders Aaron Huntsman and William Lee Jones, the first gay couple in Florida to win the right to marry, led Saturday night’s Fantasy Fest parade.

Huntsman and Jones rode the Duval Street parade atop a giant wedding cake. The men were joined by 33 couples dressed in wedding attire.
