How to Stay Fit While Traveling :: The Drinking Edition


Traveling for business? Pleasure? Both? You’re probably going to want a drink (or five), but drinking doesn’t have to compromise your fitness goals.

Moderation is always a good idea but not always an option. When trying to keep some discipline while having a good time, try something without the nasty internal side effects like spiking your insulin levels, promoting fat storage or dehydrating the heck out of you. Something like the NorCal Margarita.

NorCal Margarita

The NorCal Margarita was made famous by Robb Wolf in The Paleo Solution. The good thing is you can drink a few of these with less guilt.


  • 2 shots of top shelf tequila, 3 shots if you’re feeling frisky
  • Juice from 1 lime
  • Club soda


Shake your tequila and lime juice with ice, then strain into chilled glass with ice and top off with soda. Garnish with a slice of lime.

In addition to drinking light, remember to plan your travel fitness routine, eat clean and enjoy your vacation!
