Chicago Children's Museum shows commitment to LGBT families

Chicago Children’s Museum ( CCM ) kicks off two months of All Families Matter programming, as part of its ongoing commitment to ensure the museum serves the needs of LGBT-led families and gender non-conforming children, with International Family Equality Day ( IFED ) at the museum on Sunday, May 3, 2015.

All children ages 15 and under will receive free admission to the museum on May 3. The highlight of this year’s event is the Rainbow Staircase. Visitors can use colorful ribbons to transform CCM’s three-story central staircase into a giant rainbow. Other programs provide families opportunities to voice their ideas of what makes a family, and create family portraits and flags representing their families. A hospitality and resource room with snacks and live music will be available on May 3, June 4 and 25. Programming continues through June 30. For a full schedule, visit the event page on CCM’s website.
