Pride parade brings wave of color to Uptown

By the time a 350-foot rainbow flag was carried down North Palm Canyon Drive Sunday morning, Palm Springs’ uptown corridor had already been hit by waves of color.

Thousands of people marched or rode floats as part of the 28th annual Greater Palm Springs Pride parade, which ended with the long flag. And along the way, participants waved smaller rainbow flags, wore elaborate costumes, tossed beads into the crowd and cheered as loud as they could.

Dozens of businesses, organizations and public agencies participated in the parade to celebrate the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. And there was no shortage of diversity among participants.
