What to do in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

Early risers can enjoy a bike ride along the boardwalk before 10 a.m. During lifeguarded hours, the beach is all about building sandcastles, sunning and reading, swimming in the ocean and jumping the waves (and spotting dolphins in the distance). Early morning and evening are the times for boogie boarding, skimboarding and surfing. (These sports are allowed at all times north of lifeguard stand one in the Deauville area.)

Rehoboth is known as well for its many excellent restaurants; two of its chefs have been nominated for James Beard awards. The shops lining Rehoboth Avenue and neighboring streets include upscale and lower-priced stores selling clothing, jewelry, home décor, gifts and souvenirs.
