RuPaul’s DragCon LA: back, back, back, back again!

Travel Tips | Jim Werner | May 10, 2022

Sashay your way to RuPaul’s DragCon this weekend in Los Angeles (May 13-15, 2022). Described as a mash-up of Comic-Con, BeautyCon and Hello Kitty Con, this is a chance for lovers of drag culture to come together, inspire each other and let their freak flags fly high. And if nothing else, it’s a place to spill the tea with the fiercest queens in the country.

In 2015, RuPaul launched RuPaul’s DragCon, an exciting and inclusive place for fans of all things beauty and drag to gather, meet, and of course, shop. From there it took off and is now a three-day extravaganza.

Weekend passes start at $80, and daily tickets range from $40-$50 depending on which day you’d like to attend. Kids are free! And all attendees 5 years and older must provide proof of up-to-date vaccination or a negative COVID-19 PCR test upon entry into the venue.

Fagabond had the chance to talk to model/photographer Michael Freeby who says “DragCon was one of the greatest experiences of my life that I won’t soon forget!” He had the chance to meet and photograph all the legendary icons from DragCon’s of past including: best-selling author and original Party Monster fashion maven James St. James; “Sweet Love” singer Shuga Cain; Broadway superstar Peppermint; host of WOW Plus hit “Tails Of The City” and star of Starz’ “Workhorse Queen” herself Mrs. Kasha Davis and was kind enough to share his photography. See below for pictures from DragCon 2019:
